SSB shoots Accra Bourse main index up

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA - A huge gain in the share price of SSB Bank on Monday gave the All-Share Index of the Stock Exchange a boost to open the week with 57.80 points.

The market index went up significantly to 2,713.00 from 2,655.20 points as the equity gained 1,895 cedis in the face of renewed investor interest.

Change in the year to date closed trading up at 94.44 per cent with the market capitalization fixing at 10,481.18 billion cedis up from Friday's close of 10,335.20 billion cedis.

Volume of shares traded slumped from 912,000 to 134,800. In the broader market, there were four price changes - all positive.

SSB gained 1,895 cedis to open the week at 12,000, British-American Tobacco Company (BAT) gained 97 cedis at 2,800 cedis while Home Finance Company (HFC) made 40 cedis to finish trading at 2,700 cedis. Unilever Ghana recorded the least of four cedis to close trading at 9,205 cedis.
