Kwahumanhene must retract his divisive comment – Youth demands

President John Dramani Mahama President John Dramani Mahama

A group known as Concerned Okwahu Development Youth Association (CODYA) is calling on the Acting Paramount Chief of Kwahu Traditional Area, Nana Asiedu Agyeman lll to publicly retract his endorsement of President John Mahama for another term of office.

The Chief last week endorsed the President during his visit to the area as part of his “Accounting to the people tour” claiming the President has brought a lot of development to the Kwahu area.

In a statement signed by its President Obibini Takyi Frank, the group said it was expecting the Chief to seize the opportunity of the President’s visit to the area, to request for more developmental projects instead of openly campaigning for the president.

Below is the full statement

In nearly eight years we have had a government which has brought numerous of pains, sufferings, hardships, and calamity into the lives of its people.

The records of the NDC government has been a record of higher cost of living, unprecedented increase in utility tariffs, depreciation of the cedi, increasing rate of unemployment and more taxes to constrict the already suffering Ghanaians.

In this regard, we as concerned youth of kwahu dreaming of developmental projects but seeing none, expect any leader from kwahu who gets the opportunity to speak on issues talks about the need for development in kwahu and also the limping economy that has ended many of the youth jobless and futureless.

On the contrary, our well respected Acting chief of kwahu traditional area who’s also the chief of Abetifi, Nana Asiedu Agyeman lll had the opportunity to talk on issues and could have even requested for more projects. In his remarks, instead of him to appeal for more developmental projects into kwahu, he rather endorsed the incompetence of the NDC government led by President Mahama and assured him of a second hardship term.

Our two major questions to our acting chief are as follows :

Does he really think of the economic well being of the people of kwahu?
Did he also assure the president a second term just because he has heard other Chiefs making such needless endorsement?
In a humble appeal, we are pleading with Nana to get to the airwaves and retract his endorsement by telling the president “me kaa no waa”
