Nana Addo, Mahama battle for e.TV Ghana’s Most Influential Award

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and President John Dramani Mahama of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will battle it out for who gets the best slot ahead of the other in the top 100 Most Influential Ghanaians.

The two who have been considered the most popular and influential personalities in the Ghanaian political scene currently, are both battling to win the mandate of Ghanaians to lead the country.

Between Nana Addo and President Mahama whoever gets more votes from the public and comes ahead of the other in the GMI awards, might be a replica of what is expected to happen in the 2016 general election in November. Or not? The two have over the years featured prominently in the annual rankings.

However, the GMI Awards organized by e.TV Ghana may open a window for Ghanaians to steal a peak of what is yet to come in the November 2016 General elections since the rankings for the most influential person in Ghana are based among others on public votes, affording Ghanaians the power to choose who they think was the most influential person over the last year.

Personalities such as Dr. Mensah Otabil, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Osei Kwame Despite, President John Mahama, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Rawlings, Michael Owusu Addo (Sarkodie), Kofi Annan, Yvonne Nelson, Shatta Wale, Kwesi Twum and Otumfuor Osei Tutu II among others are all expected to make the top 100 most influential list.

Over the years, the GMI has calved a niche for itself as a prestigious award event that has won the hearts of many Ghanaians.

Last year, Dr. Mensah Otabil, motivational speaker, entrepreneur and the founder of ICGC and Central University College was adjudged winner of the GMI awards.

Even though the awards are organized by a TV station, they have not shied away from acknowledging personalities from competing media houses who have been nominated for the awards.

This has lent the awards some credibility and it is expected that organizers will keep the standards set.
