The Executive Secretary and Spokesperson for the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has described as untrue assertions by minority Scottish MPs that all but a few countries in the world embrace homosexuality and have enacted legislation to protect the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transsexual (LGBT) persons.

He said that assertion was false as majority of countries and people do not recognise same-sex relationships.

Minority MPs of Scotland’s parliament boycotted an address by Ghana’s president, John Mahama, in the chamber Thursday March 17, 2016 over claims Ghana was one of 75 countries in the world which continued to abuse persons of same-sex orientation, as the country had not repealed its laws against homosexuality.

“They say 75 countries, that’s untrue. These are part of the lies that are being told the world. It is not true Ghana is one of only 75 states that forbid homosexuality. They (the Scottish MPs) should go to the Arab world and talk about homosexuality. They will see what will happen to them,” said Mr Foh-Amoaning, on Accra100.5FM’s morning show, Ghana Yensom, Friday March 18, 2016.

He said, in Europe, only a few citizens are accepting of the practice, while most US states had been opposed to homosexuality until a recent Supreme Court decision legalising gay marriage across the country forced their hand to recognise it.

“Even in Scotland, if you are to take the vote, you will realise that majority do not support it. It’s because a number of their leaders lead such (homosexual) lives that they clamour for such. So, it is not true there is a majority of countries that accept gay and lesbian rights. It is not true,” the legal practitioner added.

“The majority of people, even in Western Europe, do not support these rights but they remained silent and were overtaken by the activism of the gay movement.”

For that reason, he said, the group would not keep quiet but would work hard to counter the activism of some pro-LGBT rights bodies in the country.

“Sodomy and lesbian relations are clearly unnatural. Look at the problem that come from anal sex. The diseases that arise from that. It actually destroys the human body. In fact, it demeans the human being. It cannot be that this so-called sexual orientation rights are human rights,” Mr Foh-Amoaning added.
