Schlupp delighted to be back

After three months of injury, there is no doubt that Jeffrey Schlupp was delighted to return to Leicester City action, but he wasn’t expecting the reaction he got from the Blue Army.

The Foxes Academy graduate has made impactful contributions from the bench in each of City’s last three matches after a hamstring injury, had kept him on the sidelines since early December.

He will again be in contention for Monday night’s Barclays Premier League clash at home to Newcastle United.

Understandable then that he was thrilled to make the first of those appearances as a substitute against Norwich City late last month while the late winner from Leonardo Ulloa will long be remembered, Schlupp won’t forget the ovation afforded him by the King Power Stadium crowd.

“Obviously getting that late winner was just the icing on the cake.

“It feels great to be back. It’s been a while out with injury – about three months – so it definitely feels good to be back and back to winning ways as well.”

It’s been a remarkable season for the Foxes, who have performed consistently well against all comers, and while Schlupp was delighted to see his team-mates taking care of business from the sidelines, he admits that it was tough not to be involved.

He added: “It was torture really! Some of those games where I was actually at the stadium on my crutches not able to do anything weren’t easy but it was also good to see the lads doing so well and performing so well.

“I was just itching to get back involved in a team that was doing so well.” He noted.
“It meant a lot to me with the way that the fans reacted to my return.” Schlupp told Foxes Player HD.
