Vice president of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie says he is expecting an overwhelming victory for Sheikh Salman in today’s FIFA elections.

The Bahraini head of the Asian football confederation is favourite to succeed Sepp Blatter according to Ghana’s vice president of football.

The continent's governing body, CAF has reiterated its support to Salman ahead of the crucial elections in Switzerland today.

The African continent is seen as a key campaigning ground since Africa's 54 members represents the largest regional voting block of Fifa's 209 member association.

The tricky situation is that every country will cast an individual vote with some expected to turn down the general agreement to throw their weight behind Sheikh Salman.

But despite the possibility of an upset George Afriyie says he expects a massive victory for the Bahraini head.

“CAF had a meeting yesterday and all 54 members decided to throw their weight behind sheikh salman,” George Afriyie told Accra based Happy FM

“Sheikh Salman is coming from the Asian football federation and he is bring about 47 votes so I expect him to win on the first round.”
