Yao Klingo chairs new Ghana gas board

Mr. John Armstrong Yao Klingo has been appointed to chair the reconstituted Ghana gas board. He replaces Dr. Kwasi Botchwey who recently retired from the board.

Other members of the board include Chief Executive of GNPC, Alex Mould, Chief Executive of Ghana Gas, George Sipa Yankey, a representative from the Ministry of Petroleum, Vivian Gadzokpo, and the Paramount chief of Eastern Ezema Traditioal Area, Awulae Amihene Kpanyinii III.

The reconstituted five-member board was sworn-in by the Petroleum Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah. He tasked the new board to ensure that there is enough gas to power the country’s generating plants.

The new board takes over after a statement signed by the former board chairman, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey on 1st January said "The Board of Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) has announced its retirement effective 4 Febuary."

The statement also reviewed successes achieved by board. These include;

• Establishing the administrative and operational of the company from scratch and superintending the recruitment of key staffs.

• An onshore gas processing facility to process raw natural gas and produce various products including lean gas for power production, liquefied petroleum gas and other natural gas liquids for domestic and industrial use.

• Implementation of the Western Gas infrastructure project.

The board also expressed appreciation to the government for supporting them, including key stakeholders like SinoPec China and the Chiefs and people of the Western region.
