GT Expands & Upgrdes

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), August 16, GNA- Ghana Telecom Company (GT) has embarked on a programme estimated at 150 million US dollars to expand and upgrade the country's telephone system.

Mr. Ken Dapaah, Minister of Communications and Technology said this when he commissioned a mobile cell station at Dormaa-Ahenkro in Brong-Ahafo.

He said it was the policy of the Company and that of the government to ensure that all towns, villages and schools get access to telephones 2005.

The Company will meanwhile sell 900 to 1000 chips to customers at Dormaa-Ahenkro, he added and expressed the hope that more chips would be sold to them in future.

The Minister appealed to the people to patronize the facility to enhance socio-economic activities in the area.

Mr. John Yaw Boateng, Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of Ghana Telecom appealed to the people to channel their applications through the District Manager of the Company for chips.

He gave the assurance that the Company would provide quality services at all times.

Mr. Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, commended Ghana Telecom for extending the facility to the people in the area
