Jordan-based Ghana youth international Ben Acheampong is relishing a maiden call-up to the senior national team.

The ex Kumasi Asante Kotoko center forward enjoyed a stellar season in the Gulf region and believes his time at the Black Stars is not far away. Acheampong registered eight goals in nine matches for Aqaba in their unsuccessful attempt at joining the premier league in Jordan.

The former Wa All Stars agile attacking availed himself for selection to the Black Stars after his injury comeback.

The 23 year old remains optimistic of wearing the famous national colours as a reward for his rejuvenated form. He was however not in desperation at joining the four times African Champions at the moment.

He told www.sportscrusader.com, “it has been my ambition to represent the Black Stars at one stage in my career as a footballer. I still believe it is possible because I am enjoying my football and is eligible for selection into the national side.

“I am a Ghanaian and I will fulfil my childhood dream if I am able to make it to the Black Stars. I strongly believe I will get there. The most important thing is that I am not in a rush to represent my country at the moment but remains confident of ever wearing the Black Stars jerseys.”

Ben Acheampong earned respects on the local scene for his aerial threat and pace down either flanks before joining the exodus bus to Angola. He has earned himself the traditional fox-in-the-box striker for his unique goal scoring threat in the 18 yard box.
