Women asked not to rush in taking loans

A Koforidua based contractor and businesswoman, Madam Esther Ayisi, popularly known as ‘Obaapa Esther’ has advised market women and traders not to rush in taking loans in the name of expanding their trade.

She said they must rather analyze the interests and benefits of the loan facility.

She observed that many women rush in for loan facilities from financial companies to expand their trading activities but end up collapsing their businesses due to the high interest rate and other conditions.

Madam Ayisi, who gave the advice at the Koforidua branch of the Winners Chapel Ghana, during the Women’s week celebration, noted that loan facilities has both the positive and negative sides.

According to her, it is better to cultivate the habit of savings from daily sales so that when the need arises, “one can easily fall on the savings which is far better because you won’t pay interest and there is also no pressure in paying back”.

She also advised the women to be active and not rely on their husbands or others to provide for them.

Madam Ayisi said every business started from a small beginning and so women should not wait for big moneys before they embark on economic ventures.

The week is an annual affair dedicated and focused on women in the church and it involves a number of activities including seminars on health, education and economics among others to empower females in the church.

Pastor Moses Quarshie, the Head Pastor, urged women to be active and work to support their homes to bring about peace and progression in their marriages and homes according to the will of God.

He advised young women not to exchange sex for job favours and should strive to be serious with whatever they are doing.
