Former Accra Hearts of Oak captain and one-time league goal king, Mahatma Otoo, has called for unity in the club ahead of the upcoming season.

The fine striker’s call comes at the time Hearts are going through rough times in the history of the club.

The Rainbow Club had a disastrous campaign last season which saw them avoiding relegation only on the final day of the season and eventually finishing 13th on the league log.

The poor performance exhibited by the club, according to some followers, was down to disunity among the hierarchy of the club and poor technical decisions by the coaching staff.

Mahatma, who left the shores of the country at the end of the 2013-2014 season after winning the top scorer award, wants the leadership of the club to unite and forge ahead to win laurels for the club.

“Hearts of Oak is a team of unity. If there is no unity there is no way you can win games. When I was there, there was unity in camp so we got the result,” he told Starr Sports.

The 23-year-old who now plays for Norwegian side Sogndal helped his side to earn promotion back to the Norwegian top-fligh
