Clubs in Ghana are unprofessional-Kwame Ayew

Ex-Ghana striker Kwame Ayew has lashed out at local clubs for their unprofessional conducts.

The former footballer turned pastor is amazed at how clubs have been run in the country, labeling it as ‘amateur’.

Ghanaian clubs have been heavily criticized for their poor handling of players who are unpaid for several months, and in some cases years.

They lack requisite training facilities amid a mounting financial crisis which has crippled the smooth running of most clubs.

And ex-Ghana star Kwame Ayew is not happy with how local clubs are being run.

‘I don’t think we really understand professionalism or professional soccer. I think we should go back to amateur because to play in the professional league, each club must have their own training grounds.

The players must be there (in camp) 24 hours for the club. A whole lot is

wrong so you can’t develop so much (players),’ he told Accra-based Starr FM.

The Ghana FA is confident the local league clubs will become more professional following the introduction of the Club Licensing System.

The FIFA Club Licensing system is expected to go global next year aimed at helping to shape the professional running of football in the world.

The Club Licensing system requires clubs to commit to minimum standards and principles in five key areas such as Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel and administrative as well as legal and financial.
