Portland Timbers goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey admits that playing abroad for the first time in his career has been tough although he has been able to adjust.

Kwarasey joined MLS side Portland Timbers from Norwegian giants Stroemsgodset earlier this year and was arguably the best goalkeeper in the American elite soccer division this just ended season.

“It’s been challenging for me to get to know everybody quickly and also try to perform,” Kwarasey told Oregonlive. “It took a couple of months just to get used to everything.”

“It’s my first time playing abroad. MLS is just different than what I’m used to in Europe” He added

Timbers General Manager Gavin Wilkinson also lauded the player saying that the club have so much believe in him.

“He’s cool, calm and collected, even reserved in many ways, But he’s got emotion.”

“We have a lot of confidence in Adam, that’s one of the things about him. He’s very confident, very composed.”

The 27-year-old kept 13 clean sheets for Portland Timbers who reached the playoffs.
