Ex-Ghana captain Abedi Pele has called on Black Stars coach Avram Grant to give more opportunities to local players in the senior national team.

Many have questioned Grant’s decision to leave out locally-based players in some Black Stars matches.

Grant recently named three local-based players in his squad for the team’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros.

Wa All Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori, Ashanti Gold skipper Fatau Dauda and WAFA youngster Samuel Tetteh were the only home-based players invited for the double header against the Southern African side.

Abedi-Pele who led the Black Stars to the 1992 Cup of Nations finals in Senegal has urged the Israeli trainer (Avram Grant) to increase the quota for the home-based players.

“We all played for local Clubs before moving to Europe so these guys should also be given some opportunities as well,” he told Starr FM.

Ghana will travel to take on Comoros on November 13 before hosting their counterparts in the reverse encounter six days later at the Babayara Sports Stadium.
