Ghana's failure is a wake-up call - Afriyie

Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie says the exit of Ghana from the 2016 CHAN tournament is a wake up call to the Ghana FA.

The home based Black Stars were bundled out on away goal aggregate after losing 1-0 to Ivory Coast in the second leg of the CHAN qualifier at the Stade Robett Champroux in Abidjan on Friday.

Ghana won the first leg by two goals to one in Kumasi and needed at least a draw to sail through to next year’s CHAN Tournament in Rwanda

“This is one of the games you don’t want to lose but we lost. Well it is a wake up call, we need to look at the way we prepared and how we planned.” Afriyie told footballmadeinghana.com.

“There are other competitions as well as the FA is concerned- Black Stars and the Under-20’s have qualifiers to play next month so let’s correct the mistakes we did which led to the failure of qualifying to Rwanda.”

Ghana reached the last edition of the CHAN in South Africa losing on penalties to Libya.
