Ghana to receive 71.9 billion cedis for budgetary support

Accra, July 11, GNA - Ghana and Netherlands on Friday signed a 71.9 billion cedi grant agreement as budgetary support for the 2003 fiscal year within the framework of the Multi-Donor Budgetary Support (MDBS) programme.

It is to support Ghana's implementation of the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programme (GPRSP).

Dr Osei Akoto, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, signed on behalf of Ghana while Mr C. A. Van der Wiel, Netherlands Ambassador signed for his country.

The agreement followed the framework memorandum on the MDBS programme signed on June 30, 2003 in Accra. The Dutch government over the past four years has provided grant facilities in the form of Budgetary/Balance of Payments (BOPs) support to Ghana.

Between the 2000 and 2002, Ghana received a total Budgetary/BOP grant of 756.2 billion cedis from the Dutch government.
