MTN invests over $2.5 billion in network expansion

MTN Ghana has invested a total of over $2.5 billion in expansion and modernisation of its network infrastructure, since its inception in 2006.

Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN, said the company with a robust 2G and 3G network, three state-of-the-art data centre, the West African Cable System would continue to deliver extensive, reliable, fast voice and data service to Ghanaians.

A Ghana News Agency (GNA) report said Mr. Asante was speaking at the launch of MTN’s 15 millionth customer celebration in Accra.

“We have enough headroom in our network to accommodate many more subscribers and will continue to make the kind of investments that motivates Ghanaians to endure to make MTN the network of choice,” he added.

He said the recent quality of service monitoring results on data services released by the National Communication Authority was evidence of the level of investment made on the MTN network.

The Chief Executive Officer said the company would continue to explore new and different ways of meeting the ever-changing telecommunication needs of their customers with innovative offers.

He said as a business, the company also focused on giving back to the communities and MTN Foundation’s sustained corporate social responsibility investments have resulted in 102 major projects, since 2007 with an investment of GH¢21 million, impacting three million people.

Mr. Asante said as part of the celebration, MTN is embarking on a campaign to say thank you to stakeholders, especially customers, whose contributions and commitment have made the company the network of choice.

He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Communications, the National Communication Authority, the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication for the partnership and support.
