President John Dramani Mahama on Monday assured the Western Regional House of Chiefs of government's commitment to advance and grow the region.

He noted that the region was even benefiting more than the 10 percent the House was demanding in terms of roads, port expansion and healthcare projects.

President Mahama was responding to a question from Awulae Agyamfi Kwame, one of the paramount chiefs and Ebusuapayin) on the 10 percent allocation to the region.

President Mahama was in the House to officially introduce himself and solicit support for his endorsement as the presidential candidate for the NDC in the 2016 general elections.

Earlier on, the leadership of the House expressed worry at the rampant strike actions, the slow pace of the rail project, and other road networks that needed attention.

The Preside disclosed that government had put in place many social intervention programmes, to better the lives of Ghanaians.

He expressed gratitude to traditional authorities across the country for their continuous support and collaboration in advancing the course of the country.

Government, according to him, had ordered the trains to run the rail lines, whilst the Takoradi Expansion Project was to create additional job openings.

President Mahama urged the traditional rulers to intervene in the development of the Atuabo Free Port which comes on board as an additional facility of choice and income-generation, for both investors and the country.
