Anti-AIDS campaigners told to be real models

Obbu (Ash), July 5, GNA- Anti-AIDS campaigners have been told to be responsible in their sexual conduct so as to serve as role models to people in the communities. Miss Josephine Adjei-Berko, a community health nurse at the Kuntanase Government Hospital in Ashanti, said people who preach against the disease could not influence behavioural change among the people when they lead questionable lifestyles. She was addressing Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) at Obbu and Nkowi in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District in Ashanti. Miss Adjei-Darko said "people after listening to you would carefully evaluate your own social lifestyles before deciding to either accept or reject your message". She asked them to encourage the people not to discriminate or shun those living with the HIV/AIDS. Miss Portia Ansah of the District AIDS Committee (DAC), called on the churches to spend part of the service time to educate their congregation on dangers of the disease.
