I’m not NPP – Emile Short

A former Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Justice Emile Francis Short has denied rumours that he is a member of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, although he votes in elections as required of him as a citizen, he does not belong to any of the political parties in the country.

Speaking to Starr Chat host Bola Ray on Wednesday, the retired Judge bemoaned the attempt by some individuals to link him to political parties as a result of his stands on certain national issues.

When asked by Bola Ray if he belonged to the NPP as rumours have held, Justice Short responded “ I don’t belong to any….I’m not (NPP). People put you in a political box where you don’t belong.

“In CHRAJ it’s one of the challenges that I faced. People try to politicize anything you do. I don’t belong to any political party; I will vote when the time comes, but I don’t belong to any of them,” he stressed.

Short also added his voice to the call for the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief executives to be elected. He said that would give true meaning to the democratic process and also make the elected officials more responsive to their people.
