Eschew acts of corruption; Akufo-Addo urges law students

The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has challenged law students at the university of Cape Coast to eschew acts of corruption when they begin to practice law.

At the back of the latest corruption expose in the country's judiciary, Nana Akufo-Addo advised the students not to entertain corruption in any form or compromise rule of law, particularly in ensuring equality before the law

Speaking at the maiden edition of the UCC Law Week, he said it was imperative on the students to handle issues in a manner that would uphold the dignity and integrity of the judiciary in order to maintain confidence.

Touching on the way forward in dealing with the scandal, Nana Akufo-Addo said ‘…there should be due process not only to safeguard or satisfy the rights of the judges involved but also to ensure that wrong doers are punished"

The UCC Law Week organised by the Faculty of Law in the College of Humanities and Legal Studies, brings together personalities in the legal fraternity to share experiences with the university community. It is dubbed ‘legal luminaries platform’

One hundred and sixty students have successfully been admitted into the UCC Faculty of Law since its establishment three years ago.
Nana Akufo-Addo who has over 40 years experience in the legal profession underscored the role of lawyers in the development of Ghana since independence

The renowned lawyer and politician also urged the students to properly utilize mass media in their respective profession but should strive to uphold the rule of law in the country.
