Kenya Airways has been cleared by the Kenyan Government to resume direct flights to Sierra Leone and from the country to its network following a ban last year due to the breakout of the Ebola Virus Disease.

The Ministry of Health this week lifted the suspension initiated in August 2014 to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea following the outbreak of Ebola.

Kenya Airways Group CEO and Managing Director welcomed the move. “The airline in consultation with the Ministry of Health has constantly assessed the situation and is pleased with the latest development.”

The airline had resumed direct flight to Liberia and operated to Sierra Leone on 5th Freedom through a transit stopover in Accra, Ghana, following clearance from the Ministry of Health.

Passenger screening will continue at the airport until the Ministry advises otherwise.

Kenya Airways would like to thank its loyal passengers who have been patient throughout the last year and looks forward to serving them on board.
