Ministry Salutes Mothers

The Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs yesterday congratulated all mothers who have in diverse ways helped to bring up worthy leaders on the occasion of “Mother’s Day”.

The Ministry also said “Ayekoo” to those still in the process of sacrificing just to see their children through in life. These were contained in a statement issued in Accra yesterday by the Ministry to mark this year’s event.

“At a time when so much is being said about the disintegration of families, this year’s Mother’s Day offers us all a chance to reflect on the very important role that our mothers are playing in the substance of the family”, it said.

According to the statement, the yeoman’s role of mothers as the bedrock of families should never be underestimated. It noted that mothers were the real engines of progress in every society and for that matter they must be held in high esteem.

“As a Ministry, we are very much aware of the need to support mothers as a way of helping in the survival of families”, it noted and said that it would do everything economically to meet the challenges in life to enable them to support their families.

Preaching a special service to mark the day at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, at Osu in Accra, Rev. Ft. Narh Asare asked women to appreciate the special and unique way God created them and use it to his glory.

He denounced the debasing of womanhood by some women prepared to expose themselves for a pittance. He praised women, as mothers, for taking care of their children, husbands and families even in very difficult and trying times. Special prayers were later said for mothers.
