AshGold, Kotoko want FA Cup games deferred

Ghana’s FA Cup enters the Round of 16 this weekend but two clubs want their fixtures postponed.

Supersport.com understands that league leaders AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko want their games rescheduled due to the unavailability of a number of their players. These players numbering more than 5 per club are away on national team duties.

These clubs have petitioned the Ghana FA and Cup organizers based on Article 13 (4) of the Ghana FA Regulations which states;

“Where a club has contributed three (3) players or more to the National Team “A” or 5 or more players in any combination of the National Team ‘A’, U-23, U-20 or U-17 the club may request for postponement of its match and the postponed match shall be rescheduled by the GFA.”

Both AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko have contributed 6 players each to the Cosafa Cup bound Local Black Stars and the Olympic team, the Black Meteors.
