Land guard stabs Ga Kingmaker

The police at Nima Police Divisional Command in Accra are on the heels of a 47-year-old-man, Richard Nii Armah, for allegedly stabbing a member of the Ga Paramount Stool Dzaase Council, Raymond Nii Armah Hammond, Today can report. The heinous crime, sources close to the Council said, occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

Richard Nii Armah, Today uncovered, is an alleged notorious land guard, who carries his nefarious acts within Midie and Adjei Kotoku, all suburbs of Accra. According to the police at Nima, the suspect, after stabbing the abdomen of Mr. Hammond, 42, went into hiding.

Plausible sources told Today that Mr. Hammond is not the only victim of Richard Nii Armah, adding that the suspect in question has been maiming and brutalising innocent people in those areas.

The sources mentioned that Richard Nii Armah sometime early this year subjected his parents together with his elder sister and younger brothers to severe beatings. And that case, the sources disclosed, is currently before the James Town District Police Station in Accra.

The victim who is a great-great grandson of the late Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tawiah, Today understands, is currently responding to treatment at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, after surviving a deep cut on his ribs.

Speaking in an interview with Today, the family members of Mr. Hammond from the Abola Piam family indicated that the attack had something to do with the protracted Ga chieftaincy dispute.

According to the family members, who pleaded to speak on condition of anonymity, the victim, before the attack on his life, had received countless death threats on his phone from the other faction in the Ga chieftaincy dispute.

The victim, Today further discovered, was a key witness in the Ga chieftaincy dispute at the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in Dodowa.

“Mr. Hammond has a huge bandage on his ribs; he can speak but with a lot of difficulty. However, doctors are monitoring him very closely," the family members told Today.
