GFA has not received Muntari's apology

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it is yet to receive a reported apology from AC Milan star Sulley Muntari following his indefinite suspension from the national team.

Widespread media reports in Ghana suggested that the Italy-based midfielder had sent a relative to deliver the letter to the GFA on Monday, to pave way for the suspension to be lifted.

The former Inter Milan man, who was sacked from Ghana’s World Cup camp in Brazil, is believed to have finally shown deep remorse for his actions nearly one year ago.

The report claimed that he will send an unnamed relative to deliver a letter to the Ghana Football Association but the federation says it is yet to receive the letter.

“The General Secretary of the GFA said as at 9am on Tuesday morning, he had not received any letter from Sulley Muntari or anyone representing him,” GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie said.

The Ghana FA insisted that Sulley and Kevin Boateng will not return to the Black Stars squad unless they apologise for their misconduct that led to their indefinite bans.

The two players are currently serving an indefinite ban from the side, after being dismissed from Ghana’s World Cup camp in June for disciplinary problems.

Muntari was punished for allegedly assaulting a member of the Ghana Football Association during a row over bonuses.

Boateng paid the price for what the GFA called gross acts of insubordination towards then-coach Kwesi Appiah.

Ghana coach Avram Grant said inasmuch as he is willing to work with the Schalke and Milan players, the two must prove their willingness to return.
