GNBCC launches the 2015 New Business Challenge

The Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC) earlier this week launched the 2015 New Business Challenge for both Ghanaian and Dutch students.

The Press launch which took place at the GNBCC office, polo grounds- Accra, will recruit students from various disciplines in both Private and Government tertiary institutions in Ghana.

Briefing the press, Miss Fleur Hoog Antink, Project and Business Manager, GNBCC, said the aim of the NBC is to encourage innovative entrepreneurship and an exchange of knowledge between the Netherlands and Ghana; facilitating a beneficial cross-over between education and practical experience.

She said, the challenge programme is to serve as a linkage between private companies and universities in both the Netherlands and Ghana; helping education to be more practice -oriented with private companies contributing to the recruitment of talent.

The NBC Ghana 2015 is a unique student business case competition where 20 Dutch and 20 Ghanaian students work together for 2 months during the summer in mixed teams on actual business cases from 5 participating companies.

This challenge is all about discovering new opportunities for the private sector and maximizes the entrepreneurial potential of the student participants.

In Ghana, 20 best students will be selected from the University of Professional studies Accra, University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Central University College and Valley View University to participate in the NBC 2015.

The winning team will receive a trophy awarded by the Netherlands Ambassador in Accra-Ghana, as well as a guaranteed internship for participants at participating companies both in Netherlands and Ghana.

To be qualified as a participant of this year’s challenge programme, the person will have to be a student in any of the selected Universities in Ghana, must have a passport, must be willing to travel, and must present a problematic case affecting the Ghanaian private business from any discipline.
