Accra–Tamale flights canceled over poor weather

Flights from Ghana’s capital Accra to Tamale in the North have been cancelled due to poor visibility.

Some planes from the domestic terminal of the Kotoka International Airport had to return to Accra Tuesday morning because the weather was bad to facilitate landing.

According to aviation officials at the airport, the level of visibility needed for landing had dropped to as low as 400 metres and therefore flights from Accra to Tamale could not land at the airport and had to return to Accra, the website of state-owned Daily Graphic is reporting.

“We are hoping that the conditions would improve by the day so that the flights can return to Tamale,” the report quoted an official.

Visibility levels needed for landing is 1,800 metres and above.
