Reshuffle cannot offer any thing good to Ghanaians -Wayo

CHARLES KOFI Wayo once again has surfaced on the media scene; this time to criticize the recent Cabinet reshuffle made by President J.A Kufour.

The maverick politician, who was speaking on the Sky FM radio station morning show at Sunyani, described the reshuffle as nothing different from what existed before, adding, "the changes made cannot offer any thing good to Ghanaians."

Wayo said he was expecting that the president would remove some of the ministers whose performance fell below expectation, but they were all maintained in the government. According to him, the new appointments and reshuffle would make most Ghanaians lose confidence in the party.

The Nima Show Boy regretted that Kufuor's administration is not treating Nana Obiri Boahen, a Sunyani-based legal practitioner, fairly, because he had been seen as the most outstanding politician in the Brong Ahafo region.

He said the Sunyani lawyer deserves to be rewarded with a ministerial post for his role in the party and explanation of the government policies.

According to Wayo he has never met Nana Boahen personally, but he had heard of him on radio programmes both in Accra and at Sunyani, explaining national issues.

Wayo therefore called on the president to make the necessary corrections and adjustments in the ministerial posts, so that the country can move forward, rather than putting inefficient ministers in the government who would soon turn to be liabilities on the country. He however did not mention those ministers he described as inefficient.

When Nana Boahen was contacted by Chronicle to comment on Wayo's remarks, the lawyer had this to say: "it is God who crowns a king," adding that "if God says I will become a minister, it would definitely come to pass one day."

It would be recalled that during the Brong Ahafo regional congress, Nana Obiri Boahen was asked to step down for the incumbent chairman, Mr. Kwadwo Yeboah Fordjour.

It was speculated that the lawyer was promised a ministerial post, but this is not forthcoming.

He, however, said the recent appointments and reshuffle would not deter him form carrying out his duties as a member of the party.
