Awards must be beneficial – Fish processor

Madam Kwenor Nartekie, Best Fish Processor for the Upper Manya Krobo District, has appealed to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to give farmers awards that would be beneficial to their line of production.

She said this would enable them to derive the maximum benefit from the awards.

Madam Nartekie made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the farmer’s day celebration at Konkoney in the Upper Manya Krobo District.

She said apart from the radio set and piece of cloth she received for her hard work in fish processing, the other prizes given to her were all for farming purposes - weedicide, knapsack sprayer, watering can and cutlasses - adding that those were of little or no benefit to a fish processor.

Madam Nartekie said as a fish processor, she needed equipment for preservation and processing of fish for human consumption, but the prizes she received did not conform to her work thus making them irrelevant.
