Beach soccer team gears up for Copa Lagos tournament

The Countdown to Africa’s premier Beach Soccer showpiece continue to Gather Momentum. Ghana’s Black Sharks wrapped up another training session today ahead of the Copa Lagos opening ceremony and match against hosts Nigeria.

Coach Johnny Hemann and his assistant Daniel Kotey are confident that the team will be battle ready to face Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Switzerland.

“We have challenges but as you can see, the boys are focused and determined to make a mark,” according to the president of the association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

The team was forced to commence camp a full week late due to lack of funds and even though the cash strapped association is putting a brave face to it, there is a prospect of travelling with 10 players and three officials.

The Black Sharks are expected to play a select side made up of Championship and Division 1 players at the La Beach Soccer Arena on Sunday.
