Pig farmers in the Ellembelle assisted with pigs

The livestock division of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture on Wednesday supplied some pig farmers affected by the African Swine fever months ago within the Ellembelle District of the Western Region with pigs to enable the farmers get back to business.

A significant number of the breed of livestock had been distributed to communities such as Anochiei, Baku, Sanzule Ngaletole and Ngalekyi, where the disease greatly affected the livelihood of farmers.

The distribution exercise was carried out under the supervision of the Regional Livestock Director, Mr. Daniel Asimenu, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Daniel Eshun, and Member of Parliament for the area Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Buah.

Mr. Asimenu said government shared in the grief of the farmers and that the animal were been given out on credit so they could pay back in later years.

Pig farmers in the Ellembelle District suffered massively from the Swine fever viral disease that hit the area killing over 500 pigs.
