Ampofo Ankrah defends World Cup budget

A Member of the Media and Communications committee of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has described as mischievous, assumptions that the Ghana Football Association intends to embezzle funds meant for the 2014 World Cup.

“People are just been mischievous and am getting impatient personally because in 2006 and 2010, it was not a hidden budget, it was open and everybody knows what went in and what came back, there was no secret.

“If Ghana gets to the quarters, the semis or finals the money they make does it go back to the government or the FA? These are the questions we should be asking”.

There have been serious concerns over the reported $20m budget for the Stars ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

But Yaw Ampofo Ankrah believes the budget of the FA will only be approved after it has gone through some thorough scrutiny.

The ace sports Journalist added that people are only being naive in assuming the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports will embezzle the funds given to them.
