MTN, Huawei launches new mobile phone

MTN Ghana in partnership with Huawei Technologies has launched a new mobile phone, Ascend Y220 onto the Ghanaian market in Accra.

The new device is a 3.5 inch touch screen with 4.0 Android system, built in wifi-hotspot and has a longer battery life span.

Mr Rahul De, the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, speaking at the launch said data services have become important to socio-economic growth and customers should have appropriate devices that could enhance their data experiences.

He said MTN was giving out mouth-watering packages that would go along with their newly introduced handset.

The Chief Marketing Officer said the new device also gives users the opportunity to have access to MTN’s 200 megawatts data each month for twelve (12) months.

Mr De said MTN was focused on investing in world class technologies aimed at bringing relevant telecommunication services to its subscribers to brighten their lives.

“MTN has invested over million in the WACS submarine cable to provide MTN subscribers in Ghana and Africa much needed bandwidth,” he added.

The Chief Marketing Officer assured subscribers of the company’s willingness to pursue and invest in the latest technologies that would enrich mobile telephony experience.

Mr Russel Xu, the Managing Director of Huawei Technologies Ghana, said the product was an improvement on the Huawei Ascend Y210 launched last year.

He said the products were aimed at providing a better technological experience for their customers and expressed the optimism that the phone would satisfy customers’ demand for quality services.
