NBSSI to hold Business Development Service forum

The National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), will hold a Business Development Service (BDS) forum for its stakeholders including micro and small scale enterprises, in Accra, this month.

The forum, which is a collaboration between the NBSSI and the Japan International Development Agency (JICA) aims at collating the views of participants to improve on the quality and productivity of micro and small scale enterprises (MSEs) in the country.

It is under the theme: “Improving Enterprises Productivity and Product Quality through KAIZEN.”

KAIZEN is a concept that stimulates productivity improvement as an ongoing process in any venture for its betterment.

It is a practices oriented strategy and can be implemented in the industry by improving every aspect of business process in a step-by-step approach.

Mr Abdul Rahim Lukman, Executive Director of the NBBSI, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Sunday, said the NBSSI/JICA project was to formulate a strategic model for quality and productivity improvement through strengthening BDS for MSEs.

He said the project, which is for a three-year period, started in April 2012 and currently being piloted in the Ashanti Region to be replicated nationwide.

Mr Lukman said the project aimed at developing the capacity of Business Advisory Centres (BACs) to facilitate the BDS.

He said this would build the capacity of the BACs to impact effectively on MSEs at the local level.
