Abuga Pele constituents angry over GYEEDA charges

Constituents of the embattled Member of Parliament for Chiana - Paga are threatening to vote against the governing NDC, if eight criminal charges leveled against him in the GYEEDA saga are not dropped.

Abuga Pele has been charged with willfully causing financial loss to the state, misapplication of public funds and aiding and abetting crime.

His angry Constituents in an interview with XYZ News said the party could suffer in the 2016 elections if the prosecution of Abuga Pele doesn’t cease.

Some of the constituents added that the charges leveled against Abuga Pele are an attempt to use him as a sacrificial lamp in the GYEEDA rot.

Meanwhile, the former National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) says he is innocent of criminal charges leveled against him in connection with the implementation of the programme.

Mr. Pele said on Monday that “I think I am perfectly safe in my conscience’’.

Mr. Pele and the Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill International Group, Philip Akpeena Assibit are facing a total of 19 charges including causing financial loss to the state of about US$3 million and defrauding by false pretences.

The prosecution of the two men comes on the heels of a recent assurance given to Ghanaians by Information and Media Relations Minister Mahama Ayariga that President John Mahama will not spare any big fish found culpable in the whole GYEEDA rot.
