TAKAI Cocoa Liquor adjudged Ghana Made Product of the Year

Gihoc Takai Cocoa Liquor, a product of indigenous Ghanaian company, Gihoc Distilleries Limited has been named Ghana Made Product of the Year 2013. The company received this prestigious award at the maiden Ghana Made Products Awards (GMPA) Night held in Accra yesterday.

Ghana Made Products Awards is an initiative of Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), to honour outstanding Made in Ghana products for excellence and quality as well as offering innovation from competitors on both domestic and international market.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Sam Ato Gaisie, Founder and President of EFG, said the awards aimed at seeking the pride of Ghanaian indigenous products from large and small medium industries and expose them to Ghanaians throughout the country to promote, create awareness and build product loyalty.

“The key objective of the products awards are to provide the platform for Ghanaian consumers to patronise Ghana Made Products and also encourage Ghanaian Industries to make significant improvements in product excellence, innovation and quality to meet challenges of international standards,” he said.

Mr Gaisie also stressed that the numerous challenges local industry faces was due to unfair competition from some low quality imported goods on the market, which is holding back the advancement of Ghana’s private sector and national economic growth.

He disclosed that the awards will be conducted annually to create opportunity for manufacturering industries to gain that competitive advantage by having their products recognised on a prominent and far-reaching scale.

The awards was held on the theme, “Patronising Ghana- Made Products; the Gateway to Economic Development,” under the auspices of Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance and Ghana Standards Authority.
