Mobilization Programme Officers Laud Disaster Committee

Tamale,(Northern Region) 4 Nov. Delegates to the just ended eighth national conference of liaison officers and mobisquad leaders of the National Mobilisation Programme (NMP) have lauded the establishment of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NDMO) to co-ordinate management of disasters. In a communique after the conference in Tamale at the weekend the delegates noted with appreciation government's commitment to the labour rationalisation programme and pledged continued support for its efforts at re-training and resettling redeployees. They noted that a meaningful co-operative development will improve rural economy and the living standards of the people. Earlier in a closing address, the regional minister, Mr. Gilbert Iddi commended the NMP for rekindling the spirit of self-reliance among the people through the mobisquad concept. Mr. Iddi expressed the hope that the conference had equipped the participants with new skills to enhance their ability to educate and sensitize the people on their civic responsibilities. He asked the liaison officers to learn all about the Value Added Tax (VAT) system to be able to explain it to the people.
