OWASP to host cyber security summit

Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) - a non- governmental organisation focused on improving cyber and software security -- will be launched in Ghana next month.

OWASP, Ghana’s first cyber security summit scheduled for September 5th to 6th, will gather chief executives, policymakers, managers, technical leaders, analysts, engineers, and students at the British Council.

A statement issued by OWASP Ghana said the launch marks a milestone in information and communication technology in developing countries.

“OWASP helps the information security community by contributing ideas and experiences to effectively fight the war on cyber threats and computer incidents,” it said.

The statement said OWASP’s worldwide open community is dedicated to making application-security visible by empowering individuals and organisations to be informed about true cyber and software security risks. The summit will include competitions, along with extensive hands-on training and an exhibition hall featuring the most exciting companies in the cyber and software security industry.

OWASP Ghana is a newly-established networking organisation under the umbrella of the OWASP Foundation Inc., headquartered in the United States. The local chapter aims to add to the good work already started by OWASP chapters all over the world, and further the cause of generating awareness of security issues across the globe.

The organisation strives to provide world-class training for a variety of skill levels and interests at its events. From the novice to the expert, developers to managers, decision- makers to policymakers, there is a training course for everyone.
