FSG attends Africa confab against GE Agriculture

Mr. Duke Tagoe, Deputy Chairperson of Food Sovereignty Ghana, has left Accra to for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend a conference being organized by the Alliance for Food sovereignty in Africa. The conference will discuss strategies for resistance against genetically modified (GM) seeds.

The objectives of the meeting is the creation of a common understanding on the issues of food and seed sovereignty, and the forces against. The meeting will also focus on the development of a strategy, which identifies the issues to be tackled on an Africa-wide basis.

The conference is expected to produce key statements and lobby documents to be used for campaigning purposes. The participant, which include farmer organisations, shall also devise strategies on how to engage with key institutions including the African Union and the of Regional Economic Commissions.

Mr. Tagoe is expected back in Accra on Saturday, 17th of August.
