Apprehend “Let My Vote Count” leaders - National Security urged

The National Security outfit has been urged to invite and interrogate the leadership of the pressure group, “Let My Vote Count” as part of the efforts to get to the bottom of some recent developments in the country.

The Odododiodioo Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Daniel Nii Okai (popularly known as “Toza”), made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, at the weekend.

He recalled that at the inauguration of the “Let My Vote Count” in Accra recently, the members outlined a number of actions they would take as part of efforts to have the results of the 2012 Presidential Election annulled.

Mr Okai said some of the actions outlined included embarking on demonstrations and strikes by workers of strategic sectors among other things to create panic in the society to make the country ungovernable.

“If soon after this statement of intent by the leadership of this group, their threats to sabotage and destabilize the country started unfolding, National Security should apprehend them for investigation before the worse happens.

“After their threats, teachers, University Lecturers, doctors and Pharmacists at government hospitals have embarked on industrial actions over matters that can be solved with level headedness and there have been fire outbreaks, especially the one at the Kantamanto market…” all these Mr Okai noted called for serious investigation by National Security.

“The case of the election petition is before the Supreme Court and the main actors have all come out that they will abide by the ruling of the Eminent Judges. People should not make themselves Judges only to inflame passions, which will not augur well for peace and development of the nation,” Mr Okai advised.

He added, “We should all help to maintain the peace and stability that we have been enjoying irrespective of partisan and parochial interest since we do not have any other country apart from what we have”.
