NPRA urges media to monitor activities of pension companies

Mr Emmanuel Dagbanu, Education and Training Manager of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has urged the media to monitor the management of pension schemes in the country by exposing mismanagement of pension fund.

He said the introduction of private companies in the management of the new pension scheme calls for the media to monitor the activities of these private companies to protect the members of the schemes.

Mr Dagbanu was speaking at a stakeholders forum on the status of implementation of the new pension scheme in Accra, organised by the NPRA for the leadership of organised labour.

He entreated the media to seek the views of the Authority and industry experts as much as possible when reporting on pensions.

He said the NPRA needs the support of the media in educating and sensitizing the workers and the general public on their roles and responsibilities under the new pension scheme and the need for proper planning towards ones retirement.
