The shooting of Azaare Gideon has brought 'grief and tension' to the people of Vea and must be investigated, says the member of parliament(MP)for the Bongo Constituency, Hon. Albert Abongo.

According to a press statement released on Friday, the Bongo MP asked the Upper East Regional Security Council to as a matter of urgency establish why a peaceful demonstration by the youth of Vea should lead to the brutal murder of a promising young leader and the wounding of several others by the police. He also called on the Regional Security Council to stop work on the Vea Dam till the murder is properly investigated, the perpetrators punished and justice done to all.

“I wish to call on the Regional Security Council to cause an immediate seizure of the exploitation of rocks from the shrine by the Contractor and to carry out an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mr. Azaare Gideon, a community leader and the wounding and arrests of several others”, Hon. Abongo called.
