Drop the court action and re-strategize for 2016, NPP urged

The President of the Christian Friends of Democracy, Reverend Samuel Agyei, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to drop its legal contest of the December elections and concentrate on re-strategizing for the 2016 elections.

He said the party had a major role to play for the development of the country whether in government or in opposition.

Rev Agyei was speaking to the Ghana News Agency on his new year message of peace and national reconciliation on Monday.

He congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for his election and urged him to establish a government that would select the most capable people to help implement his promises to Ghanaians and at the same time create space for all well-meaning Ghanaians to play the needed role to ensure national unity.

He congratulated the Ghanaian media for the exhibition of maturity in the coverage of the December elections saying there had been a significant improvement in the coverage of elections by the Ghanaian media since 1992.

Rev Agyei urged religious leaders in the country to call their members to order and educate them to desist from the use of abusive language and unnecessary attacks on people with dissenting views from theirs.

He called on all irrespective of their political affiliation and ethnic background to work towards peace and national unity.
