Gov't to build homes for teachers - Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says his government will concentrate on improving the financial and social status of teachers in order to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

According to the president, teachers play an essential role in the learning experience hence the need to ensure that they are always in the best frame of mind.

President Mahama made the remarks when he addressed some selected school pupils from all the ten regions of the country at the Castle.

"The most important factor is a well-trained teacher, a well-motivated teacher. That is the absolute most important factor to ensure quality education,” he said.

President Mahama said his government will ensure that teachers are well-motivated to enable them teach properly in sound mind.

“…We will continue to make sure that we improve incomes so that teachers will be able to teach properly,” the President said adding his government is introducing a new programme for housing teachers where homes will be built on campuses to accommodate them.

The president also urged the pupils to stay focused in life in order to achieve their ambitions.

The event is an annual programme organized to enable the children have an interactive session with the president.
