Beach Deal Signed

The Ministry of Tourism and La Traditional Council yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding to end the seven-year stalemate over the management of La Pleasure Beach. By the agreement, the Council withdrew the mandate of the La Youth Association, who last September unilaterally took over the management of the beach from the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) due to a dispute over the disbursement of revenue.

Mr Kwemena Bartels, Minister of Private Sector Development and Acting Minister of Tourism announced this at a press conference organised by the Ministry and the Council.

He said a six-member management team made up of three nominees of the Council and three from the Ministry of Tourism had been constituted to manage the beach resort.
