What will force a serious political party like the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to resort to publishing a non-existent opinion poll from a foreign company, that is into job recruitment but not research or surveys, as done yesterday by the pro-NPP newspapers— the Daily Guide and The Statesman?

The Herald’s preliminary investigations into whether or not an American-based company, Geolink Partners Incorporated, has conducted a research into Friday’s presidential election and rated the NPP candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, as Ghana’s next president, come January 7, 2013, has drawn blank.

The company, Geolink Partners Incorporated, this paper has uncovered does not carry out research or opinion surveys as reported by the two newspapers, but it is rather “a professional services firm providing executive search, training and outsourcing solutions to government agencies, corporations and the legal community”.

Both newspapers, one of which is owned by Nana Addo himself with the other one owned by Freddie Blay, a member of the NPP Campaign Team, only mentioned in passing the name of Geolink Partners Incorporated, flippantly, as having carried out the polls but failed to give details to buttress the scientific nature of the polls.

The company listed that its “Primary Areas of Expertise Include the Following: Finance, Accounting Support Professionals, Contract Support (Contract Specialists, Subcontract Administrators, Proposal Writers), Legal Professionals (Paralegals and Attorneys), IT Experts and Support Professionals, Web Development and Support (Java, J2EE, .Net), Database Design/Data Warehouse Professionals, Network and Systems Engineers and Program Management”.

The company has its address as 910 17th St, NW, Suite 800 at Washington, DC 20006. It phone number was given as (202) 293 2226, with the fax number given as (202) 315 3075 and the email address as jobs@geolinkpartners.com. However calls to this line had no response.

Additional information creamed from the website states further that “Geolink Partners was formed to acquire, integrate, and manage temporary staffing and other alternative human resource businesses. Our Mission is to be the human resource solution provider and employer of choice by providing our clients with accurate, flexible and creative solutions and by providing our employees with professional growth, competitive compensation and a working culture defined by teamwork, integrity and respect for the individual”.

A second website, http://geolinkpartners.com/index.html which is less serious looking compared to the early one, said “Geolink Partners, Inc. is a full services professional and technical consulting firm providing a full-spectrum of consultant and staffing solutions to government, commercial and industry clients.

Geolink is positioned to provided solutions and support in the following “Core Competencies areas of Technology and Professional Staffing and Outsourcing: Professional Services – Financial, Accounting, and Legal, Systems Development & Integration Application Solutions, Network and Systems Administration, Infrastructure Solutions”

According to the site, Geolink provides professional consultants, subject matter experts and highly trained –certified and degree professionals to meet your needs and requirements for Direct hire Temporary, Temporary-to-Perm professionals.

This second website provided additional information as saying “Geolink Partners, Inc was established in 2003, and has used its experiences to perfect the art of being an outstanding partner for its clients”.

It said that “Geolink is a leading provider of diversified technical, professional, accounting, finance, legal executive support services and solutions for government, businesses, corporations and not-for-profit organizations.

Geolink prides itself on being “the company that understands” the range of professional, business and technology needs of government and private industry.

Meanwhile, an earlier polls which equally put NPP’s Akufo-Addo ahead of his competitors, has also been described as unbelievable. The Research International (RI) which conducted the survey is owned by the NPP National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.

The Research International, does market surveys mainly for Unilever Ghana Limited on how its cosmetics and beverages are doing.

Jake’s company indicated that the opposition NPP would get 52 per cent of total votes in the December 7 polls, with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) going home with 46.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, claims are that Research International, is collapsed and hence does not have the capacity to carry out such an exercise.
