Fifi Kwetey : How Dare Asante Bediatuo!

For a group of politicians to make it a point to always describe other citizens of Ghana as not being full Ghanaians is not only disturbing but nauseating, to say the least. But that is the stock in trade of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). What is even more disturbing about this unpleasant phenomenon is that those who are at the forefront of this ignominy are the so-called educated elites of the Danquah-Busia political tradition.
One Nana Asante Bediatuo, who is said to be a lawyer and a member of the NPP, was the latest to have made the reckless statement against Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Fifi Kwetey, and from the look of things, the NPP stalwart seems to have bitten more than he can chew, as the deputy minister has decided to give him a dose of fire baptism, asking “How dare you”.
At a programme dubbed: “Lest We Forget’ Hon Fifi Kwetey questioned the audacity of NPP’s tribal bigots like Nana Asante Bediatuo who think that they have the divine right to be called ‘legitimate Ghanaians.’
According to the deputy minister, he was not the main target of the tribal sentiment expressed by Nana Asante Bediatuo but that the NPP stalwart but that he was seeking to as usual denigrate the people of the Volta region, by describing them as not being “full Ghanaians”.
Mr Kwetey said he was not surprised about the tribal bigotry of NPP persons like Nana Asante Bediatuo, who is a relative of NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo. He reminded the Ghanaians that when the NPP flagbearer’s father, Mr Edward Akufo-Addo was the constitutional president of Ghana from 1969 – 1972, the PP government at the time implemented the ‘Alliance Compliance Order.’
The deputy minister, who is also the parliamentary candidate of Ketu South, said Dr JB Danquah, one of those from whom the NPP derives its Danquah-Busia political tradition and who was a relative of Nana Akufo-Addo and Asante Bediatuo, was a CIA agent against the interest of Ghana.
He said more nauseating was the fact that a relative of a CIA agent has the audacity to say of the parliamentary candidate of Ketu South, whose family relations have never sold the interest of Ghana for a morsel of bread, that he is not a full Ghanaian.
The NDC firebrand reminded his party followers of the deviousness of the political grouping called NPP. He admonished NDC faithful that the NPP is not a group to be treated with kids gloves.
According to him, the combination of forces by Nana Akufo-Addo and Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, as flagbearer and chairman of the NPP, portends grave danger for the country because they represent the epitome of ‘all-die-be-die.’
Mr Kwetey said the NPP chairman’s father was at the pinnacle of the violence that rocked this country during the tenure of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP government where several bombs were detonated, killing some innocent Ghanaians including school children and maiming some.
He pointed out that NPP’s desperation to come back to power is premised on the fact that want to come back to continue with their ‘cocainecracy,’ the situation where the illicit drug trade boomed under the NPP government and Ghana was named the ‘Cocaine Coast.’
