CPP veep asks gov’t to halt dismissal of SHS students for non-payment of fees

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) is appealing to government to intervene in what she describes as unfair treatment of students in some Senior High Schools across the Country.

Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah made this call following sacking of some final year SHS students due to non-payment of their boarding and other fees.

Nana Akosua Frimpomaa was addressing the Media at the second edition of the CPP’s “Breaking News series” which is aimed at highlighting pressing issues troubling Ghanaians.

She intimated that it is no fault of any child that his or her parents are unable to perform their responsibility and wondered why the education of children should be halted just because their parents cannot to foot their bills.

She insisted that trend bring untold suffering to student and must stop now.

“We are asking government to send circulars across the country to prevent students who are in their final year and have been sent home due to boarding /feeding fee to stop immediately.

“Let us make sure we put a social intervention in place for those who need help in the educational sector”, Nana Frimpomaa said.

She lamented that subsequent governments after the Convention Peoples Party have failed Ghanaians, claiming the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have all failed Ghanaians.

She therefore questioned why the two big political parties should be given the mandate to rule again.

The CPP running mate appealed to the electorate to vote for the party in the December elections to enable them implement their good policies and programmes which in the past helped most current politicians.

Nana Frimpomaa said she personally intervened in her municipality to ensure one hundred and forty-seven SHS further their education after spending a term in the house.

This she said the CPP administration under Dr Abu Sakara would ensure that every child is given access to education as a means of developing the nation.

She added that the CPP will also implement policies aimed at unearthing the potentials of every child to the fullest, by “making Ghana Work Again”.
