Ghana needs medical attention- Akosa

Medical Practitioner and member of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Professor Agyeman-Badu Akosa, has described Ghana as a sick nation due to the politicisation of pressing matters bedeviling the nation.

According to the CPP firebrand, Ghana will continue to wallow in abject poverty, if the trend is not halted.

“We have had too much of [politicisation of every sensitive issue] including education and health and that is what has led us where we are,” he charged.

He said this on an Accra based radio station on Monday, and averred that health and education are the major social interventions which should not be politicised.

Prof. Akosa stressed: “I say this on behalf of the CPP that health and education are the major social interventions that have made anybody who he is or she is and we therefore believe that health and education should not be put on a partisan political platform. You leave health and education to a politician, you will get a very raw deal.”

It was in this direction that he recommended for the establishment of a Presidential Commission to address the issues of health and education in the country, adding that “[it will] harvest the intellectual might of this country, create a kind of blue print for education and health to set the agenda.”
